What is Memory Care?
Memory care facilities are a unique subset of assisted living and nursing home care. These facilities provide a safe, structured environment with a set of routines to lower the stress for those that suffer from memory loss. These facilities have smaller staff to patient ratios and are designed to meet the specific social, medical and safety needs for those that suffer from Alzheimer’s, dementia or some form of cognitive impairment. The main difference between assisted living and memory care facilities is the staff members take a more hands on approach to taking care of your loved ones to manage and navigate their day for them.
- Nursing Home
What is Nursing Home?
A nursing home is the highest type of care facility that is offered. Nursing home care is a long-term care option for seniors who don’t need to be in a hospital but can’t be cared for at home. Nursing care facilities provide the most extensive medical care a senior can get outside of a hospital. These facilities offer help with custodial care, such as bathing, getting dressed and eating, as well as skilled care which is given by a RN and includes medical monitoring and treatments. Nursing homes are facilities for care of patients who are not sick enough to need hospital care but are not able to remain at home any longer.
